Al Franken is an American politician who served in the US Senate from 2009 to 2018 when he resigned. Before becoming a politician, he had a very successful career as a comedian and media personality, working with Saturday Night Live as a writer and sometimes as a performer.

Al Franken’s Biography
In this respect the comedian and politician became known as Al Franken, he was born on May 21, 1951, in New York City and was christened Alan Stuart Franken. While his father, Joseph Franken, worked as a printing press agent, his mother, Phoebe Franken, worked as a real estate agent.
He grew up with his brother Owen Franken in a Reform Jewish family and moved with his family when he was just four years old to Albert Lea, Minnesota, where his father founded a quilt factory, which unfortunately did not survive for more than two years and forced the family to move again to St. Louis Park, Minnesota.
As for his education, Al went to The Blake School, which he graduated from in 1969, and then he went to Harvard College, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1973, majoring in Political Science.
With an interest in acting, he started comedy since his high school days, together with his friend Tom Davis. The two of them were later hired by Saturday Night Live (SNL) as authors and also as actors. Al Franken worked with the SNL from 1975 to 1980 and then from 1985 to 1995, receiving seven Emmy nominations and winning three.
After leaving the SNL, he was, among other things, co-hosting a talk show with Katherine Lanpher on Air America Radio from 2004 to 2007, when he decided to run for the US Senate from Minnesota in the 2008 election. Franconia later won the Democratic Party nomination before defeating Republican Norm Coleman, who led the way with more than 700 votes, but after a recount, Al took the day with 312 votes. He was re-elected to the Senate in 2014.
In the heat of the #MeToo movement, Al Franken was accused of sexual misconduct along with more than two hundred other celebrities and powerful men, including U.S. President Donald Trump. The then-senator was accused by up to eight women, with the accusations going back from 2003 to 2010. Following the accusations, he was called upon to resign by both Republicans and Democrats in the Senate. On January 2, 2018, he finally resigned from office and resigned, although he insisted that some of the allegations were completely false.
