The celebrity chef was born on July 30, 1962, as Alton Crawford Brown. He was raised by his father Alton Brown Sr. and his wife in Los Angeles. As a teenager, Alton spent most of his time in Georgia, where his father runs a radio station called WRWH and the White County Newspaper Publisher.
Raised in Georgia, Alton graduated from high school and continued to study film at the University of Georgia, where he graduated in the early 1990s. Soon after graduation, Alton began his career in cinematography and film production.
