Andre Iguodala Biography (Age)
Andre Iguodala was born on January 28, 1984, in Springfield, the capital of the State of Illinois, as Andre Tyler Iguodala for an African American mother, Linda, and a Nigerian father, Leonard.
Iguodala attended Lanphier High School, where he excelled in both science and sport. He was a featured National Honor Roll athlete and won All-Conference academic awards for working with both the school’s athletics and basketball teams. In his last high school year, Iguodala averaged 23.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game, leading his school to second place in the Illinois High School Association Class AA State Tournament.
Although he did not win any honors, he was comforted by being named the Chicago Sun-Times Player of the Year even though he had lost the Illinois Mr. Basketball Award. He went on to visit the University of Arizona, which already had future NBA players like Channing Frye and Luke Walton on its basketball team. In his first year, Iguodala quickly rose to become one of the team’s best all-around players and was rewarded with the Pac-10 All-Freshmen Team nomination for 2002-03. His school made it to the NCAA tournament this year but was defeated in the Elite Eight.
He continued his performance in his second year, leading the team in rebounds, aids, and thefts before being named as the team’s MVP and All-Pac-10 First Team. Arizona qualified again for the NCAA tournament but was defeated by Seton Hall in the first round. That was Iguodala’s last year at college when he signed up for the 2004 NBA draft.
Andre Iguodala was selected by the 76 from Philadelphia for the 9th overall prize. He was immediately pushed into the starting line-up where he partnered with Allen Iverson. Iguodala became the only player on the 76 lists to play and start in all 82 regular-season games and 5 playoff games. His versatility was also visible to all, as he was the only rookie and 76 players to record a triple-double this season. After the season, he was named to the All-Rookie First Team but finished fourth in the NBA Rookie of the Year poll.
Andre Iguodala played for the 76s until the 2011-12 season; he joined the Denver Nuggets and played with them for only a year before finally becoming one of the Golden State Warriors in summer 2013.
In his first season with Golden State, Iguodala was inducted into the first team of the 2014 All-NBA Defensive. In the campaign that followed, he was the sixth man to play until the fourth game of the 2015 NBA Final, where he was placed on the starting line-up for his defensive skills. Golden State defeated LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers and was crowned champion as Andre Iguodala himself was named MVP of the final.
He won a second NBA Championship two years later and is currently well on his way to winning a possible third title against old enemies Cleveland Cavaliers.
