The wrestling world knows her as Beth Phoenix, but she was born Elizabeth Kocianski on November 24, 1980, in Elmira, New York, the daughter of Polish parents.
Winning a drawing competition as a child, which earned her tickets to the World Wrestling Federation, led Beth Phoenix to fall in love with wrestling and to have the dream of becoming a wrestler.

She attended Notre Dame High School in Elmira, where she received several awards, such as being named Queen of the Ball and becoming the first female wrestler in the school’s history. She also received other honors, such as being the champion of the North-East Women’s Free Dance and winning the New York State Fair Tournament.

After completing her high school years as an amateur wrestler, Beth Phoenix began her professional career in May 2001 and worked for a variety of independent wrestling promotions, including the Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling and Apocalypse Wrestling.
Her first professional wrestling match was against Alexis Laree, and she has not given in since. Beth Phoenix worked her way up through various competitions and soon joined World Wrestling Entertainment. She started at the promotion’s development company, Ohio Valley Wrestling, where she impressed big players so much that in May 2006, she made her debut on Raw and was added to the WWE main list.
Although she suffered setbacks in the form of injuries, Beth Phoenix managed to maintain her place in the WWE and returned from injuries to participate in major shows such as WrestleMania and SmackDown. After six years between 2006 and 2012, Beth temporarily left WWE before returning as a part-time commentator in 2017. She finally returned to the ring in March 2019.
