After graduating high school in 2012, Bryson DeChambeau accepted a sports scholarship to Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. While majoring in physics, he joined the school’s golf team and became the first student in the school to win the NCAA Individual Championship in June 2015. A few months later, he added the U.S. Amateur title to his collection and joined an elite list of players who both won titles in the same year.

Following this success, DeChambeau decided to join the PGA Tour as an amateur and made his debut at the FedEx St. Jude Classic. That year he also played in the U.S. Open, but missed the cut by four shots, and in the Australian Masters, where he was seeded second. In 2016, the golfer found out that he could not defend his NCAA title because his school had been banned from competition by the college sports federation. This prompted him to give up his last college season and become a professional in mid-April 2016.
After signing a long-term contract with the Cobra-Puma Golf brand, Bryson DeChambeau made his golf debut as a professional at RBC Heritage, where he finished fourth and took home over $250,000. DeChambeau then claimed his first tournament victory at the DAP Championship, earning him a PGA Tour Card.

His next victory came about a year later at the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, in June 2018, after he beat Kyle Stanley and An Byeong-hun in a sudden-death play-off. Two months later, he won two more tournaments within a week; first the Northern Trust in late August 2018 and then the Dell Technologies Championship in early September 2018.
