Chris Rock Biography
Chris Rock was born on 7 February 1965 as Christopher Julius Rock III. His parents Rosalie (née Tingman) and Christopher Julius Rock Jr. had their son in Andrews, South Carolina. Soon, however, they moved to Brooklyn, New York, and settled in the Crown Heights neighborhood. They then moved to the Bedford-Stuyvesant working-class district. Chris Rock went to school in the mostly white districts of Brooklyn. He was so bullied and beaten by white students that he had to change schools and later left high school. Later he acquired a GED but started working as a part-time employee in various fast-food restaurants.
He started stand-up comedy in New York in 1984. His rise in comedy was slow but steady and he soon began to get small roles in movies and television (the movie I’m Gonna Git You Sucka and the series Miami Vice were some of his first works on screen). Eddie Murphy, one of Chris Rocks comedy influences, saw his number in a nightclub and made friends with him. It was Eddie Murphy, who also acted as Rock Mentor at the time, who gave Chris Rock his very first film role in Beverly Hills Cop II.

Chris Rock married Malaak Compton on 23 November 1996. His former wife, who he has since divorced, is Managing Director of Styleworks. With Styleworks, Malaak Compton-Rock offers free services for women on their way out of welfare and into the world of work. She, therefore, runs it as a non-profit, full-fledged salon. The couple had lived in Alpine, New Jersey, and welcomed two daughters together – Lola Simone, born in 2002, and Zahra Savannah, born in 2004.
Rock announced that he had filed for divorce from his wife in 2014. He admitted that he had been unfaithful in his marriage, but also that he was struggling with a porn addiction. The divorce became official on August 22, 2016.
The enigmatic comedian seemed to be out of the dating game for a while until he was paired with Megalyn Echikunwake, an actress who was sighted with him at the Pre-Grammy Awards in February 2016. Echikunwake seemed to confirm her relationship the next day when she twittered that she had spent last night with Valentine’s Day.
