Curtis Stone Biography

Stone was born on November 4, 1975, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. His father Bryan Stone is an accountant, but there is no information about what his mother does. His parents were divorced, so Curtis grew up with his mother, Lozza (Lorraine), and his older brother Luke.

Although his father was separated from them, Stone said he never felt his father’s absence because he was part of his growing up and took care of him by taking an interest in everything he did, from sports to everything else. But he agreed that his mother had a very strong influence on him. She was the strict kind of mother who was detailed and precise about everything her children did and ate, even though she was a terrible cook. “Mom overcooked everything Stone said in an interview,” but she was a fantastic baker, he added. Both his grandmothers were fantastic cooks. Curtis Stone first learned to cook as a child from his grandmother.

Curtis had wanted to be a chef since he was 12 years old, but he didn’t believe cooking was the safest and fastest way to earn the kind of money he wanted after high school. That’s why he attended Victoria University in Melbourne just before his career in the food industry. He applied for a teaching position at the Savoy Hotel in Melbourne and was accepted. After training as a chef, he started cooking at the Café Royal under the chef Marco Pierre White, he also worked at the Mirabelle before he got a job as a chef at White’s Quo Vadis.

From 2003 to 2006 he hosted the cooking show Surfing the Menu on ABC TV together with chef Ben O’Donoghue. He has hosted many other cooking shows in the UK, including Saturday Kitchen, Good Food Live, Dinner in a Box, and My Restaurant Rules in Australia. In May 2006 Curtis Stone began hosting Take Home Chef at TLC and the show became an international success for the network.

In 2007 he became a regular face on the NBC morning show “Morning Show Today”. He became the station’s chef who visits the home of the show’s host, Meredith Vieira, to teach her how to cook after her children branded her a bad cook. In 2011 Curtis hosted the 4th hour of Today together with Hoda Kotb. He has appeared on several other shows including Lopez Tonight, Access Hollywood, The Nate Berkus Show, Martha, Rachael Ray, The Chew, The Talk. He also appeared on Conan O’Brien’s show in June 2011 to teach him how to cook the perfect date dinner.

He co-hosted America’s Next Great Restaurant, appeared on The Biggest Loser, and appeared on The Celebrity Apprentice. Curtis has also appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, MasterChef Australia All-Stars, Celebrity Family Feud, My Kitchen Rules, and Around the World in 80 Plates, of which he was the co-host.

Stone launched a range of cooking and baking dishes under the Kitchen Solutions brand, which is currently sold worldwide. He tries to use locally grown, organic ingredients whenever possible and encourages people to do the same when they can.

Curtis Stones is an author with five books to his credit. His books include Relaxed Cooking with Curtis Stone: Recipes that put you in my favorite mood, What’s for Dinner, Surfing the Menu: Two Cooks, One Journey: A fresh experience, Cooking with Curtis: Simple, every day, and adventurous recipes for the home cook.

What’s For Dinner? was published in 2013 and became a New York Times bestseller, which had to be translated into Chinese in 2014. His latest book Good Food, Good Life, was published in Canada and the USA in 2015. He is also a brand ambassador for some of the country’s best brands, including Coles Supermarkets, Hy-Vee, Great Grains Cereals, and Bi-Lo.

In February 2014, Stone opened his first restaurant in Beverly Hills, California, named after his grandmother Maude.
