DeForest Buckner is a professional American football player who is the defensive end for the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League. Interestingly, he is one of the highest defensive players in the league, with an intimidating height of 6 feet 7 inches. Buckner has been drafted by the San Francisco 49ers as the seventh all-American in the 2016 NFL draft. He was honored with the Thomas Herrion Memorial Award and was named to the PFFWA All-Rookie Team in 2016 and 2017; he also won the 49ers’ Hazeltine Iron Man Award.

DeForest George Buckner was born on March 17, 1994, in Waianae, Hawaii, the son of an African-American father and a Samoan mother. He has American citizenship and belongs to a mixed ethnic group. Bucker grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he attended the Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii. During his time there, Buckner was a good athlete, as he participated impressively in several sporting events organized by his school. During high school, he played both basketball and soccer.
By the end of his high school soccer career, he was considered a four-star college candidate and was recruited by the Oregon Ducks of the University of Oregon. Buckner joined the Ducks in 2012 and was a teammate of Marcus Mariota. In his first year, he played 13 games and recorded 29 tackles and 1 sack. The following year he played 13 games, of which he played 8 games this season and recorded 39 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
In his junior year, 2014 Buckner was appointed to the All-Pac-Second team after having scored 81 tackles and 4 sacks that season. He also led the Ducks to win the 2014 Pac 12 Soccer Championship, having set an impressive record of 83 tackles and 10.5 bags in his senior year. He was elected to the All-American First Team, the All-12 first team, and after his wonderful performance, he also won the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. NFL Career and Stats
DeForest Buckner stated for the 2016 NFL draft that it is considered one of the best final defensive prospects in the draft. During the draft, he was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft. He was the seventh player to be drafted this year. Buckner joined the 49ers and had an impressive rookie year with the team. He made 73 tackles and six sacks while recording 1,108 snaps for the 49ers. At the end of the season, he won the Thomas Herrion Memorial Award and was appointed to the PFFWA All-Rookie Team.
In the 2017 season, Buckner made a big impression at the season opener against the Carolina Panthers. He held Panthers quarterback Cam Newton to three yards of grass and 171 passing yards. Buckner was born as the son of African-American father George Buckner and his Samoan wife Maria Buckner. He has two siblings, a brother named Kenya Buckner and a sister named Shawntelle Buckner. When he was thirteen years old, his father was involved in a motorcycle accident in which he was in a coma for six days. When he woke up, he called DeForest to his bed and the two of them talked man to man. After their conversation, Buckner experienced a big change in his life; he became a man and began to take responsibility for his family. He also became a mentor to his younger brother Kenya. His father instilled discipline in them, and this helped shape his life and contributed to his success in the game.
