Here is everything you need to know about him, his family, his brother, his relationship status and his assets.
Trey Songz was born on 28 November 1984 in Petersburg, Virginia, USA, as Tremaine Aldon Neverson. He is the child of April (Gholson) Tucker and Claude Neverson Jr., but was raised only by his mother and later by a stepfather who was a member of the U.S. Army. His mother married his stepfather when he was 7 years old.
After his mother’s marriage, Songz had to live in different parts of the country because his stepfather was always transferred from one military base to another. However, the family returned to the city of his birth when he was 14 years old and attended Petersburg High School. It was in high school when Songz began to discover his decent singing voice, and despite his shyness, family and friends encouraged him to go on stage.
Since his family can’t pay for singing lessons for financial reasons, Songz will always sing along to radio hits at home and in the car and should always delight everyone around him at the time.
In 1998 Songz signed up for the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School Talent Show in Petersburg, where for the first time a large audience could hear and love his voice. Soon after the show’s success, Songz was introduced to New Jersey-based music producer Troy Taylor by his stepfather. Taylor loved what he heard, but insisted that Songz finish high school before they could start working on his music.
In his final school years, Trey Songz formed a vocal group called All Night Productions. The group performed at local parties and events in the Petersburg area until he graduated and moved to New Jersey to live with Taylor and build a career in music.
Trey Songz finally got a record deal with Atlantic Records in 2003. Two years after putting the pen to paper, he released his first album “I Gotta Make It”. In the meantime, he had released a series of mixtapes under the pseudonym Prince of Virginia, which gave him a fan base.
In 2007 he released his second album “Trey Day” with the hit single “Can’t Help But Wait”. The song reached number 11 on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles and was also nominated for the Grammy Award. Another Grammy nomination came in 2010 after the release of his third album “Ready”. This year, Trey, who reinvented himself as a sex symbol, won the BET Award for Best Male R&B Artist.
Since then, Trey Songz has released four more albums and collaborated with artists such as Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, and Drake.
Trey Songz has accumulated some wealth in his successful music career. His net wealth was estimated at about $10-12 million. This was calculated by selling albums and concert tickets. He also did some acting and played in shows like “Baggage Claim” and “Lincoln Heights”.
