Her Siblings and Family

The family Jill Duggar lives in Tontitown, Arkansas. Her father, Jim Bob Duggar, met her mother, Michelle Ruark, in the 1980s when he and another church member went to Michelle’s house for a follow-up visit after she had experienced a religious conversion. They were married on July 21, 1984, when Jim was just 19 years old and Michelle 17. After they settled down as a couple, they started their used car and real estate business. Jim was also a Republican member of the Arkansas House of Representatives from 1999 to 2002. He was nominated for the US Senate seat in 2002 but had to admit defeat to the incumbent Tim Hutchinson.

As devout, independent Baptists, the two raised their children in a highly religious manner. The oldest of Duggar’s twelve children is Joshua, born in 1988. He was followed by a series of twins, Jana and John-David. Others in the same order are Jill, Jessa, Jinger, Joseph, Josiah, Joy-Anna, Jedidiah & Jeremiah (twins), Jason, James, Justin, Jackson, Johannah, Jennifer, Jordyn-Grace and Josie. In total Michelle gave birth 17 times with two pairs of twins over a period of twenty-one and a half years. They were all part of the popular reality TV show 19 Kids and Counting, which was formerly called 17 Kids and Counting and 18 Kids and Counting.

Despite the family’s moral standards, some of the Duggars’ children were victims of sexual assault. In fact, the family reality show was canceled after the Duggars’ eldest son publicly admitted that he had sexually molested five girls, including his sister. In June 2015, Jill also revealed that she was one of the girls that her brother had molested. In a conversation with The Kelly File, Jill told Duggars that he had touched her inappropriately at night and she never knew anything about it until he confessed to her parents. After the show was canceled, a spin-off show Counting On was introduced. The show was broadcast in December 2015 and was shown in its fourth episode on June 12, 2017.
