Her father is both a doctor and a revered man, and together with her mother, they raised Lauren and her only child siblings, a sister named Emily Birchfield, in California.

Her high school years are unknown, but she began her college years at the University of California, Los Angeles, with a bachelor’s degree in political science before moving to Harvard Law School, where she received her J.D. in 2009.
