Max McCaffrey is a pro-American soccer player who holds the position of wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League. After the 2016 NFL draft, he signed up with the Oakland Raiders as a free player without a draft. He was associated with other NFL teams such as the Green Bay Packers, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the New Orleans Saints. Max McCaffrey Biography

The soccer player was born on May 17, 1994, the son of American father Ed and his wife Lisa McCaffrey as Maxwell James McCaffrey. He grew up in Castle Rock, Colorado, where he attended Valor Christian High School at Highlands Ranch, Colorado. He started playing soccer when he was still in high school. When he played under coach Brent Viselmeyer, Max Valor Christian High led Valor Christian High to three consecutive state championships. He was selected by the All-State First Team and the All-Colorado Team of Denver Post. Max was listed by as the number 68 wide receiver in the country.

After graduating, he enrolled at Duke University, where he played college football with the Blue Devils of Duke University from 2012 to 2015. During his college career, Max played 13 games for the Devils in his freshman year, catching two passes for 31 yards and 196 snaps. The following year, he received the award for the Academic All-ACC team after scoring four touchdowns, three seven-yard point returns, and 6 passes for 282 yards.

As a junior in 2014, Max played 13 games for the Blue Devils, had three touchdowns and 37 receptions for 385 yards. In his senior year, he was named to the Academic All-ACC team for the third consecutive year, scoring five touchdowns and 52 receptions for 643 yards this season. He also represented Duke University at the NFLPA College Bowl, which took place on January 23, 2016.

NFL Career And Stats

After the 2016 NFL draft, Max McCaffrey signed with the Oakland Raiders as an undeveloped free agent. He was released by the Raiders before the start of the 2016/17 regular season. Max McCaffrey was later inducted into the Green Bay Packers training squad in December 2016. He was promoted to the active squad in January 2017; however, he was not given any season until the end of the season.

On September 2, 2017, he was further dismissed by the Packers. The following day he signed with the New Orleans Saints and on September 12 with the Jacksonville Jaguars after the absence of the injured Allen Robinson. Max had his first professional appearance in week 5 of the 2017 season when he made his first catch against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Jaguars later gave up his appearance with the Pittsburgh Steelers in October 2017.

In December 2017 Max received a two-year offer from the San Francisco 49ers. Unfortunately, he had a tough rookie season as he never got the chance to wear the jersey of the starting wide receiver for the 49ers. During the 2018 preseason, he was put on the injured reserve after a foot injury he had sustained.

McCaffrey came from a lineage of athletic stars; he was born as the son of American parents Ed and Lisa McCaffrey. He has three younger brothers Christian, Dylan, and Luke MacCaffrey. Their father Edward Thomas McCaffrey played wide receiver football for thirteen years. During his professional football career, Ed played for the New York Giants, the Denver Broncos, and the San Francisco 49ers. He retired in 2003.

Max’s younger brother Christian is also a professional soccer player, playing as a specialist in point return and running back for the National Football League’s Carolina Panthers. He was drafted by the Panthers as the eighth overall selection during the 2017 NFL draft. His second younger brother Dylan also plays quarterback for Michigan State University. His younger brother Luke McCaffrey also completed his high school football career as a quarterback at Christian High School, Colorado, while pursuing a college career at the University of Nebraska.

Max’s uncle Billy McCaffrey also played college basketball with the Blue Devils at Duke University, while his grandfather Dave Sime played baseball as an outfielder. His aunt Monica McCaffrey also played college basketball at Georgetown University.
