Following his insight, Michael Stevens produced short comic films about the candidates for the 2008 presidential election in the United States under the new user name CamPain 2008, and its content caught the eye of YouTube’s director of comedy, Ben Relles, who invited him to join the then online comedy group BarelyPolitical, where he became known for his role as a bearded nun.

In 2010, the bearded comedy genius launched his first channel, Vsauce, with an initial focus on video game comedy content until the popularity of his educational series DOT caused a distraction in focus. He believes that any subject, be it silly or banal, can easily turn into madness if you take the time to look closely, research and give your curiosity free rein. Moreover, he believes that if the right question is asked, anything can be made into a profoundly effective lesson. Finally, Vsauce developed into an educational channel that emphasized his passion for science, which led to his subscriptions falling out of place.

The channel also offers intense scientific theories and concepts from the real world, often interdisciplinary and of interest to laypeople. Some of his popular videos are: What is the resolution of the eye, what if the earth stopped spinning, why are things scary, what if you were born in space, and is your red the same as my red?

He also created two sister channels: Vsauce2 and Vsauce3 later in 2010 with completely different content, mainly Internet and video game culture, while the original channel was still dedicated to educational discussion. In addition, the latter channels are operated exclusively by Kevin Lieber and r respectively, while Stevens retains sole moderation and production of Vsauce.

Stevens worked for Google as a content strategist in London in 2012. There he focused on their YouTube platform and worked with other content creators to optimize the effectiveness of their videos. In addition to creating content and mastering YouTube, he added public speaking to his resume in 2013. He has given two presentations at TEDActive and TEDxVienna and has also spoken at other events such as VidCon, MIPTV, as a diabetes educator for Novo Nordisk, and as a keynote speaker at FanFest in Australia, Singapore, and India.

He appeared as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel’s ABC Late Night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2014. In 2014 and 2017 he created and hosted the YouTube Red series Mind Field, which explores various attributes of human behavior. Michael also led the educational stage tour Brain Candy Live, a science-based stage show, along with another educator and television star, Adam Savage.
