Natalie Dormer Biography (Age)
Natalie Dormer was born on February 11, 1982, in Reading, Berkshire, England, the daughter of Claire Richards and Gary Dormer. She has two siblings, including a brother Mark and a sister, Samantha.
Natalie Dormer attended Chiltern Edge Secondary School and later Reading Blue Coat School. At school, she was a balanced student who excelled in both extracurricular activities and academic subjects. As part of the public speaking team at her school, Natalie had the opportunity to travel the world at a young age. She was the school speaker and vice-captain of her school’s netball team.
She developed her artistic traits at the Allenova Dance School, where she took dance lessons. Dormer was the “academic hope” of her family, as she explained in detail. She earned her place in Cambridge for a history degree, but this eluded her after she failed to achieve the A grade required for admission to the school.
Her academic dreams faded into the background and Dormer turned her focus to an acting career. She received her acting training at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Dormer was a quick learner and did not have to pay her dues for long before she took up a job as an actress. While still a student in London, she earned the role of Adriana in Shakespeare’s comedy The Comedy of Errors, which was performed at the Cliveden Open Air Theatre in 2003.
Two years later, exactly 6 months after graduating from Webber Douglas, Dormer was cast as Victoria in the 2005 romantic comedy Casanova. Originally planned as a small role, but after the makers observed her extraordinary ability to handle comedy, the role was expanded.
Natalie Dormer began her career on such a right foot, but she didn’t quite sail. Right after Casanova, she struggled for the next ten months because she could not land any roles. This was mainly due to the financial difficulties that plagued an independent film to which she was attached.
During these unemployed times, Dormer earned her living as a waitress in restaurants and as a data entry clerk. When Dormer got her next role, the wait proved to be worthwhile. She got the role of Anne Boleyn in the historical series “The Tudors”.
The role earned her the attention of many film critics, who only applauded her. She was nominated twice for the Gemini Prize for this role. After her character was killed in the second season, Natalie rose to greater heights. Her next big success was a stage debut at the Young Vic 2010 in the play Sweet Nothings.
In addition to her successful recurring roles in The Tudors and Game of Thrones, Dormer has starred in a number of films. After Casanova, her second film, the fictional thriller, Flawless was released in 2007. Other films by Dormer have been added in the meantime;
