Basketball Career

Young received offers from numerous colleges, but he decided, however, to visit the University of Southern California to play for the Trojans. In his junior and second year, he was admitted to the All-Pac-10 First Team. In the 2007 NCAA tournament, he led his team into the Sweet Sixteen round, where they were beaten by the top-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels. After that year, Young decided to become a pro, waived his senior year, and signed up for the 2007 NBA Draft, where he was selected in the first round with the 16th overall selection of Washington Wizards.

Nick Young played a total of 75 games for the Wizard as a rookie, but only from 2. He scored 7.5 points in 15.4 minutes per game. Young made a total of 335 appearances for the Wizards between 2007 and 2012. His most notable match for the team was on 11 January 2011 in a match against the Sacramento Kings, where he scored a career – 43 points.

In March 2012 Young was sold to the Los Angeles Clippers. He finished the 2011-12 season with the team and helped them secure a playoff position, their first in 6 years. After this campaign, Young signed a one-year contract with the 76s of Philadelphia.

The following season, Young returned to Los Angeles, but this time to the Lakers, where he scored an average of 17.9 points per game in his first season under coach Mike D’Antoni. His achievements led him to sign a multi-year contract with the franchise, which allowed him to play in his hometown alongside Kobe Bryant until 2017.

After D’Antoni’s departure and a few injuries that put him out of action, Young struggled to get a quality playing time under coach Byron Scott, whom he has since spoken directly about his dissatisfaction. He was later revitalized under youth coach Luke Walton but decided to leave the team by not opting for his option to renew his contract at the end of the 2016-17 season.

In July 2017, the now unrestricted free agent signed with the Golden State Warriors, with whom he now hopes to win his first NBA championship.

Nick Young is said to have a net worth of about $8 million earned from salaries and advocacy during his 10-year plus NBA career. In his new one-year contract with the Warriors, Young will receive $5.2 million.
