This is because her mother Janelle worked as a nursing teacher and earned a decent living, while her father was a biochemist, clinical psychologist, and author. Janelle was also a member of the Women’s Electoral Lobby and published her husband’s books until his death from a heart attack in Singapore in 2014 at the age of 75. Nicole has a younger sister named Antoni Kidman, who is a successful journalist and TV presenter.
Nicole spent her first time in Hawaii in Manoa, where her father was a Ph.D. student at the University of Hawaii. The family later lived in Washington D.C. before finally returning to Sydney. She is of Irish, Scottish and English descent.
Nicole followed the normal way to school but had another secondary education that helped shape her career. Already in elementary school, she started ballet lessons. During her education at Lane Cove Public School and North Syndey Girls High School, she also attended a dance class. To master her art, she then joined the Philip Street Theatre in Syndey and later the Australian Theatre for Young People. In these theater schools, she learned acting, mime and acting.
By the age of 16, she had everything she needed to take on Hollywood and start her acting career professionally. She made her first appearance in 1983 in the theatre film Bush Christmas. After that, she got many other film roles. She took a significant break in 1988 when she joined the cast of Dead Calm and later To Die For.
Her light in Hollywood, however, shone brightest when she appeared in the blockbuster movie Batman Forever in 1995. This made her name a familiar theme across the Pacific. From then on, she spent the rest of the 1990s and the first ten years of the new millennium gaining well-deserved recognition for her acting talent. Her reputation has grown over the years with numerous awards. She also has her own production company called Blossom Films.
