Bilson’s entire extended family is in show business; her paternal grandfather, Bruce Bilson, is a producer and director; her great-grandfather, George Bilson, worked for RKO Pictures as head of the film trailer department; her great-grandmother, Hattie Bilson, was a screenwriter.

The actress has an older brother and two younger half-sisters, Hattie Elizabeth Bilson and Rosemary Bilson. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1999, where she began acting on stage. Rachel Bilson began her professional acting career with commercials, including commercials in subway restaurants. She first appeared on the big screen in 2003 after she was cast in an episode of “8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter and Buffy the Vampire Slayer”.

In the same year, she was given a lead role as Summer Roberts in the drama series The O.C., which debuted in August 2003. Her on-screen romance with co-actor Adam Brody made her a regular series after a successful run, contrary to the original plan that she would only appear in a few episodes. At the 2005 Teen Choice Awards, she won three awards for her role in the series, finished sixth in Maxim magazine’s annual Hot 100 list, was ranked 77th in the U.S. edition, and 28th in FHM’s 2006 list of the world’s 100 sexiest women.

Bilson debuted in 2006 with her film role in the romantic comedy-drama “The Last Kiss”. She received both praise and criticism for her role as a college student. She reportedly demanded a body double during the sex scenes because she didn’t feel comfortable showing her body to the whole world, which is why she refused an offer from the men’s magazine to appear half-naked on the page.

She starred in several other films, including The Jumper (2008); Chuck; New York, I Love You; How I Met Your Mother (2010-2014); Gossip Girl (2012); Drunk History (2016); Nashville (2017); L!fe Happens (2011). Bilson began appearing in the Hart of Dixie series, but the series was canceled after four seasons on May 7, 2015.

The ABC drama series Take Two became her next film, which received a direct series commission and premiered in June 2018. Besides acting, Rachel Bilson loves fashion and has been described as a “fashion junkie”. She enjoys collecting vintage shoes and wallets and has teamed up with New York fashion brand DKNY Jeans to create and market a clothing line called Edie Rose, which was launched in September 2008. Her idea was to keep prices below $100 to make fashionable items accessible to young women and keep them as far away from their celebrity influence as possible.
