If you are a gentleman who is not prone to violence in any form, a career in mixed martial arts may not be for you. For those who do and are dedicated to acquiring the skills necessary to become experts in the field, it is a path to fame. One of the latter is Dillon Danis, considered a prodigy of MMA icon Conor McGregor at a very young age.
Dillon has been a fighter since his youth, and as he has a long career ahead of him, it is worth finding out everything there is to know about this potential MMA star.
What is Dillon Danis’ Age?
Dillon Danis was born on August 22, 1993, somewhere in New Jersey as the son of mother Nikki Danis. Although we know he has two siblings, Carol and Brandon, the identity of his father remains unknown.
For his formal education, he attended Parsippany Hills High School, and at the age of 15, when Dillon Danis was still in high school, he got into a street fight that led him to Jiu-Jitsu.
During the fight that took place at his school, Dillon was able to pull a choke, and although he was not trained in the art of grappling, he used this skill during the fight.
After the fight, he decided to deepen the strength of his natural ability and enrolled in a jiu-jitsu academy, the Jaime Cruz Academy in New Jersey. At the academy, Dillon was physically inferior to his classmates because they were not only taller but also older. But he remained persistent and joined the wrestling team at his school to support his training.
At Jaime Cruz’s academy, Dillon Danis went through the jiu-jitsu belt systems and worked his way up to the brown belt. While training at Jaime Cruz’s Academy in New Jersey, he also traveled to New York to train at Marcelo Garcia’s Academy.
At the age of 19, after graduating high school, Dillon Danis decided to become a professional jiu-jitsu practitioner, and he moved to New York to train full-time at Marcelo’s Academy. During this time he participated in various competitions and was awarded a black belt at the age of 22.
About a year later, his hopes of becoming a professional MMA fighter were fulfilled when he was offered the opportunity to serve as Conor McGregor’s coach and main grappling partner to prepare for the fight against his rival Nate Diaz.
With the help of Dillon Danis, Conor McGregor won the fight and achieved victory by decision in the fifth round. The victory triggered an increase in Danis’ reputation and thus his voice as a prominent figure in the UFC.
At the age of 25, after several years as a professional grappling partner, Dillon Danis became an official MMA fighter after signing with Bellator MMA, a mixed martial arts promotion company and rival of the UFC.
Is he a Good Fighter?
Dillon Danis became a professional fighter at the age of 25 and debuted in a fight against Kyle Walker on April 28, 2018, winning the fight by submission in the first round in 1 minute and 38 seconds. In his second fight in June 2019 against Max Humphrey, he won another victory by submission in less than five minutes in the first round.
Although he has not yet demonstrated his talents and skills at the highest level with a comprehensive fight record, he has proven himself a good fighter at other levels with a fight record of 18-16.
As a grappling partner, he also has a record of 18-16, winning 11 out of 18 by submission.
It remains to be seen if Dillon Danis, as he ages with experience, will maintain his good record at Bellator MMA, but with two wins already he has started with a great score.
Dillon Danis’ Height
Physical form is an important aspect of a professional MMA fighter’s career and although Dillon Danis did not have good form when he first attended a Jui-Jitsu Academy (he couldn’t do a push up on his first day), he has improved his fitness and has become a force in the octagon.
Dillon Danis is 1.83 m tall and weighs 175 pounds. He also has a range of 183 cm and fights in the welterweight category.
