Emily Jendrisak was born in 1974 to her parents Jerry and Christine Jendrisak. The exact date and place of her birth are not clear. Her father Jerry worked as a construction worker, while her mother Christine (née Whiterabbit), a native American, worked as an Indian rights lawyer.
As a child, Jendrisak was taught by her parents that she did not conform to gender norms and roles. She was always encouraged to think for herself, mostly from a standing position. McInnes was born on 17 July 1970 as Gavin Miles McInnes in Hitchin, Great Britain. Although McInnes was born in the UK, he is a Canadian citizen after he and his family moved to Canada at the age of four. There he attended the Earl of March Secondary School in Ottawa, where he founded a punk band called Anal Chinook.
McInnes then enrolled at Carleton University, where he earned a degree in English literature. He then earned a second degree in business administration from Concordia University before emigrating to the United States.
In 1994, together with Shane Smith and Suroosh Avi, he founded the Vice Imperium (Vice Media and Vice Magazine). He worked as an editor for the publication and was nicknamed “The Godfather of Hipsterdom”. Mclnnes also ventured into acting while cultivating a television personality. Emily Jendrisak is a housemother. She decided to give up her job and everything she had achieved to stay at home and take care of her children while she also worked with her mother, who continues to fight for the rights of the native American Ho-Chunk tribe.
Jendrisak, as mentioned above, is of Indian origin through her mother. Her mother’s lineage goes back to the Ho-Chunk tribe, traditionally known as “Hoocąągra”. The Ho-Chunk tribe is a member of the Siouan group, which is based on today’s states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois.
The tribe is in a long battle with the US government and other organizations over their land, which was taken away from them in 2017. Emily’s mother has worked for and within the tribe for over 30 years and was once director of the Ho-Chunk tribe of the Wisconsin Research Committee. She is also actively committed to the preservation of the Siouan language that she and her daughter speak.
