Jeremy Theron McNichols was born on December 26, 1995, in Long Beach, California, the son of Anthony McNichols’ African-American parents and his wife Demetra McNichols. He grew up in Lakewood, California, where he attended Lakewood High School. After his junior year, Jeremy transferred to Santa Margarita Catholic High School where he completed his senior year. As a teenager, he played soccer in Long Beach, California on the Snoop Dogg youth soccer team. He played both as a wide receiver and running back for the team.
During his high school soccer career, Jeremy scored 10 touchdowns, 72 receptions for 934 receiving yards, and nine urgent touchdowns for 877 urgent yards. After completing his high school career, McNichols enrolled at the University of Utah where he continued his college football career. However, he left Utah and transferred to Boise State University to continue his career.
As a freshman, Jeremy McNichols played nine games for the Broncos in the 2014 season. He made a total of 15 receptions for 155 receiving yards, stormed 17 carries with 160 stormy yards, and a touchdown. The following season, he was named to the second All-Mountain West team and scored 26 touchdowns, 240 carries in 1,337 rushing yards. In his senior year, Jeremy scored 51 receptions in 460 receiving yards and six touchdowns. After an impressive college career, Jeremy announced that he would be joining the NFL draft in 2017.

When he joined the Buccaneers, McNichols had a tough rookie season after his inability to read the defense properly. On September 2, 2017, he was dropped from the Buccaneers.
