The son of Robert Dobbs and Stephanie Dobbs, soccer player Robert Joshua Dobbs was born on January 26, 1995, in Alpharetta, Georgia, in the United States.

Joshua was raised by his parents in Alpharetta – his father works at Wells Fargo Bank as Senior Vice President, while his mother is a retired regional manager at United Parcel Service (UPS). Dobbs began his schooling at Wesleyan School and later at Alpharetta High School, where he was a member of his school’s football team, where he threw 3,625 yards with 29 touchdowns.

Upon graduation, the Alpharetta-born star moved to Arizona State University and later became a member of the institution’s soccer team. In February 2013, however, he left college and joined the University of Tennessee, where he studied aerospace engineering and was awarded the 2017 Torchbearer Award in recognition of his academic achievements and other accomplishments in the college community.

Dobbs began his college career in 2013, playing in five games with four starts. While his performance continued that year, he finished 72 of his 121 passes for 695 yards with six interceptions and two touchdowns. He ended his 2014 season with eight stormy touchdowns and 469 yards in six games, earning two awards as Offensive Player of the Week.
