Ludacris, also known as DJ Chris Lova Lova, is a popular hip-hop rapper who took the world by storm in the late 90s and early 2000s with his catchy lyrics, hooks and crazy style. Although he began as a radio presenter and presenter, he has described his move into music as the best decision of his life. He has also adorned the silver screen with his acting chops that it is almost surreal to think that a hardcore rapper like himself could do such a feat. One of the biggest movies he has appeared in so far is the “Fast and Furious” franchise, in which he played the role of “Tej Parker”. Ludacris has more to offer than you think. Read on to discover them.
Ludacris’ Bio, Real Name, Age
Ludacris with the real name Christopher Brian Bridges was born on September 11, 1977, in Champaign, Illinois. Professionally known as Ludacris, he is a rapper, actor, O.A.P (On Air Personality) and founder of Disturbing the Peace. His parents, Wayne Brian Bridges and Roberta Shields, were African Americans.
According to him, he was kept on the go to write more, as his friends always wanted to hear new lyrics from him. He first attended Emerson Middle School and later went to Oak Park. For his first year, he attended the River Forest High School education.
He and his family later moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and it was during this time that his father introduced him to even more musical styles from hip-hop to rock. During his stay in Georgia, he attended Banneker High School and then graduated from Georgia State University.
Then he thought of working for a radio station where he could work and then get the chance to broadcast his songs with little effort. This would prove wise later in his career as he successfully completed an internship at a radio station in Atlanta, Hot 97.5 FM, where he later became a DJ. Interestingly, he was just 18 years old at the time. He also made his first rapping debut on the single “Fat Rabbit” by hip-hop producer “Timberland” while still working for the radio station.
In 2000 he released an independently recorded album called “Incognegro”. This album only managed to appear on the Billboard 200 charts by word of mouth. After this success, he was signed to Def Jam South, who repackaged the album and renamed it “Back for The First Time”. The album then reached fourth place in the Billboard 200. The album was awarded triple platinum. Other albums released so far are: “Word of Mouf” (2001), “Chicken-N-Beer” (2003), “Release Therapy” (2006), “Theater of the Mind” (2008), “Battle of the Sexes” (2010) and most recently “Ludaversal” in 2015.
Altogether his albums are between double and triple platinum. He has also won a total of three Grammy Awards. The rapper reached another milestone when he was on the Forbes list of “Hip-Hop Cash Kings”. This was in 2014 when his estimated net assets were a whopping $8 million.
Journey Into Acting
According to Ludacris, the play was never in his head, because his main focus from the beginning was always on the music. However, he describes his entry into Hollywood and his current relevance in the film as nothing but happiness. It’s no news that the very first Fast and Furious film, released in 2001, was staged with the sensational hip-hop rapper “Ja-Rule”. After the film’s mild success, Ja-Rule received a number of calls from the producers of the film with a new contract for a second film. The new offer included an increased payment from the initial $12,000 to a whopping $500,000. Ja-Rule, however, rarely selected the calls or simply had excuses like a full schedule of tour dates.
In 2003, after efforts to reach Ja-Rule for a second film proved unsuccessful, the producer decided to contact another successful rap artist, Ludacris, for the job. When Ludacris was contacted, he was delighted to play the role. Today, however, long after his rap playing has subsided, Ludacris remains very successful as the Fast and Furious franchise is on its way to its ninth installment. Other successful films he has appeared in include: Crash, Hustle & Flow, (both 2005). He has also appeared in acclaimed holiday comedies such as Fred Claus (2007) and New Year’s Eve (2011).
His work as an actor did not go unnoticed either, as he received awards such as Critic’s Choice, MTV and Screen Actors Guild.
Ludacris is undoubtedly one of the richest musicians in the world. Apart from being a bursting hip-hop rapper in the late 90s (who made a lot of money for the rapper), he managed to establish himself in movies that later became blockbusters all over the world. In addition to the money he made from record sales and actors, he tours and is a master of ceremonies at various events. He is also a smart businessman, owning a restaurant called Chicken & Beer. His total assets are estimated at over 31 million dollars.
Family – Wife, Kids
Ludacris is a happily married man who tied the knot to his Gabonese beauty Eudoxie Mbouguiengue in Costa Rica on 26 December 2014. Interestingly enough, although the couple had been together several years before, the day they were engaged was actually the same day they both married…. isn’t it wonderful?
Before Ludacris married Eudoxie, he was already the father of two beautiful girls from previous relationships with different women. Their names are Karma Bridges and Cai Bella Bridges. However, Ludacris and Eudoxie had their first daughter Cadence Gaelle Bridges in June 2015. So Ludacris is the father of three lovely girls.
You may have heard that Ludacris had a sister, but that’s not a fact, at least it’s not entirely true. It will interest you to know that Ludacris is the only child of his parents. Nevertheless, he met La La Anthony during his time as an intern at Hot 97.5 FM La La Anthony, also known as Alani Vazquez. Lala is a television personality, New York Times bestselling author, businesswoman, producer, and actress.
Before one of them became a popular celebrity, they both started at the radio station and worked their way up in the ranks. Later they hosted a show together. Lala later founded her own show called “Future Flavas”, which she hosted together with Ludacris. Although the couple is in no way related, Lala has said that she regards Ludacris as her older brother.
Ludacris has always been a charmer, even at a young age. His light skin cuts the hair perfectly and the swag made him a feast for the eyes, especially for the ladies. A striking feature he has is his size. He stands at an impressive 5 feet 8 inches. This is considered quite large for a man.
