Those who are familiar with basketball and know the National Basketball Association (NBA) well would know Thomas Robinson. And if one of these people calls him a journeyman, he might not be so wrong. In fact, he went through six teams in five seasons.
Thomas Robinson is a professional basketball player who previously played in the NBA, including the Sacramento Kings and the Portland Trail Blazers. On the court, he takes the position of power forward and most recently played for BC Khimki of the VTB United League.

Thomas Robinson was born on March 17, 1991, in Washington, D.C., and was raised mainly by his mother Lisa Robinson. He attended the Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, and was a member of the school’s basketball team. In his last year before college Robinson averaged 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 blocks per game. He was rated by the scouts as promising and eventually played for Kansas.

In his first year in Kansas, he started just one of 33 games he played in. He averaged 2.5 points, 0.3 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game. In his second year, he had another 33 games per season as far as appearances were concerned and he started in two games. Thomas averaged 7.6 points, 0.6 assists, and 6.4 rebounds per game. Before the beginning of his third year in Kansas, Robinson was shortlisted for the John R. Wooden Award.

Robinson was the first Kansas player since Wayne Hightower in 1961 to achieve a 30/20 performance when he scored 30 points and 21 rebounds in a game against the University of North Dakota on December 31, 2011. By the end of his third season, he averaged 17.7 points, 1.8 assists, and 11.9 rebounds per game. He was named “Big 12 Player of the Year 2012”.
Robinson decided to participate in the 2012 NBA Draft and was named the fifth player in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings. During his time with the Sacramento Kings, he never started a game, but played 51 games with an average of 4.8 points, 0.7 assists, and 4.7 rebounds per game. In early 2013 he was transferred to the Houston Rockets, where he played 19 games, never started a game, and averaged 4.5 points, 0.5 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game.
He was again transferred to the Portland Trail Blazers, where he scored 14 points and 18 rebounds in his career, beating the Minnesota Timberwolves. He scored an average of 70 games, 4.8 points, 0.5 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game. In his second season with the Portland Trail Blazers, he often sat on the bench at the beginning of 4 games and played a total of 22 games.
In 2015 Thomas Robinson was transferred to the Philadelphia 76ers and on his debut with the 76ers, he scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. He was again transferred to the Brooklyn Nets. His best performance of the season with the Nets was 18 points in a defeat to Orlando Magic. He started 7 games but played 71 games with 4.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Robinson then signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in September 2016. He started one single game but played in 48 more games. On average he scored 5.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

In 2017 Robinson decided to try his hand abroad and signed with the Russian team Khimki. In the EuroLeague, he started with Khimki in one of 20 games and scored an average of 8.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. After his return to the NBA, he was signed with the Atlanta Hawks in August 2018, but in October of the same year the Hawks gave up his contract.

Thomas Robinson briefly dated the Instagram model and nurse Kai Cyre. In 2017, around the same time, it became known that Robinson was moving to Russia, word leaked out that Kai had deleted photos of Robinson from her Instagram account and that the couple had split up. Although neither party confirmed the rumors, they have never been seen together since.
