YG Bio and Age
Obviously, he was not born as YG, as it is only a stage name meaning Young Gangster. His real name is Keenon Daequan Ray Jackson. He was born on March 9, 1990, and is from Compton, California.
He was raised by his grandparents. His father was never easily available because he was constantly in trouble with the law, which kept him in prison most of YG’s childhood. His mother, Shonee Jackson, used to run a daycare center in Paramount. When the daycare business did not provide enough income, she left and started working in a grocery store. She also worked at the popular fast-food company McDonald’s. Things became more difficult for YG’s family when she lost her home and was forced to fight for survival.
The neighborhood in which he grew up and the struggle he faced during his childhood caused him to be influenced by bad company. At the age of 16, he joined the Bloods Gang and was exposed to various illegal activities such as robbery and drug trafficking, which in turn led to his imprisonment.
Regardless of the bad society and the struggle he went through, one thing that kept him going was his passion for rap music. As a teenager, YG performed in clubs, and this helped him build his rap career.
He started his music career in 2005 but put down his first album in 2014. The album was originally scheduled for release in 2012 under the name I’m 4rm Bompton, but after several delays with the label on which it was to be released, it was held up and released two years after the scheduled date under the new title My Krazy Life. One of the tracks on the album called Who Do You Love? featured Drake and was produced by DJ Mustard. The song reached its peak at number 19 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
YG’s second studio album was released on June 17, 2016, and is entitled Still Brazy. The album featured the Canadian rapper Drake among others. In 2018 he dropped his third album Stay Dangerous. He first announced the release of the album on his Instagram page before it was finally released.
YG’s fourth studio album was originally scheduled for release on April 12, 2019, as announced on his Twitter page, but after the death of his close friend Nipsey Hussle, YG was forced to postpone the album’s release date.
As an actor, he has starred in 5 movies. The first one was in We the Party, a 2012 film in which he appeared as C.C. In the same year he played a cameo role as a student in Mac & Devin Go to High School. In the film, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa were the main actors in the rap, Mac, and Devin. He also starred in White T, Blame It On the Streets, and White Boy Rick.
YG’s only known source of income is his rap music. He is not registered as an ambassador of a commercial brand. As recently reviewed, his net worth is estimated at $3 million. However, this figure is expected to increase in the coming years as he releases more albums and eventually works with brands.
